Migrant workers -from Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand- came to different towns and villages in Guntur and Praksam districts to work in Granite quarries/ stone quarries/ agriculture/ and construction works. After the lockdown, these migrant workers started their journey back to their villages, but as the buses/ trains were cancelled, with a view to contain spread of Covid-19, they were stuck up in Chilakaluripet. They have no work and all money with them was exhausted and there is no one to feed. As they belong to other states, the Tahasildar, Chilakaluripet requested AMG to help them with Rice, Dal, Cooking oil, vegetables, soaps etc, so that they can cook food and do not starve. Today, we distributed the food items to these Migrant Workers.

Face masks and Sanitizers given to police staff

Face masks are very important protection from touching mouth and nose of a person. It is said that, when a person touches a virus infected place and then touches his face/ mouth/ nose or eyes, the virus will enter into that person and will begin replicating itself in millions. Hence, it is very important that one does not touch his face. Because of country-wide lockdown, the policemen are doing 24X7 duty and it is very likely that during their duty, they may unknowingly touch an infected place and touch their face. It is also important that, one should frequently clean/ wash his hands. While in duty outside, it may not be possible to wash hands. Hence, we have given Face masks/ Sanitizers and water bottles to police station, as our contribution to control COVID-19.
