Child Care

AMG is concerned about moulding and nourishing the children and it believes that today's children are the nation builders of tomorrow. Food, clothing, shelter and education to about 12,000 students in residential schools are provided.

Some of the childcare services, other than education are:

Milk Project:- This project was started in the year 1978. It is very difficult for a poor family to provide sufficient milk to children. Consequently, the growing child is undernourished and its growth is stunted. The child needs milk for its proper growth building up of strength and immunity and resistance against diseases. Malnourished and undernourished children are prone to frequent sickness/ diseases. As parents are illiterate and unskilled, they work as daily wage coolies, earning low income, which is not enough to live in towns and cities. As they do not have a place to live, they construct small huts and live in slums. In slum areas, many poor people live in miserable conditions.  They work as causal labourers and earn very little, not sufficient to meet their basic needs. Due to lack of food, children do not get proper nourishment. The unhealthy surroundings, where they live, cause them to fall sick very often. Seeing these conditions, AMG took up the Milk Projects, to help these poor children. Infants, under the age of two years, are provided with milk everyday. This is not only a great help to the parents, but the children are improving a lot in their health and other activities. AMG mainly adopts children of daily labourers, rickshaw pullers, agricultural laborers etc. AMG is running Milk projects at Chilakaluripet, Vijayawada, Kakinada, and Visakhapatnam. About 3000 children are provided with milk every day.

Homes of Hope:- Parents, who have the vision to help poor children, are encouraged to take charge of 10 or 20 children from poor families and keep them in their home and care for them, as they care for their own children. In this way, the poor student gets the care and love of Home parents and lives in a home and not in a dormitory, while all the expenses are borne by AMG. Balanced and nutritious food is provided as per the menu. As a result, these children grow satisfactorily, both physically and mentally. All these children come from below poverty line families, whose parents find it difficult to provide clothing, shelter, food and education to the children. Had AMG not started this project, these children would not have a chance to study. In view of these facts, AMG started Homes to help underprivileged children. There are about 1000 children as beneficiaries in the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh under this project. Students who studied in Homes of Hope are now working as Teachers, Clerks, Lawyers, Army soldiers, Doctors, Technicians in Government and Private Sectors.

Day Care Centers-cum-English Medium Schools:- AMG established Day Care Centres-cum-English Medium Schools in Public Health Workers Colonies and Slum areas in Chilakaluripet, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Kakinada and Visakhapatnam. The people, who are living in these areas are the poor, particularly, the socially and economically downtrodden persons. Parents are daily wage labourers. They take their children along with them for the work. And some parents leave their children at their houses, without any care and protection. Left to themselves, they grow to become unsocial elements. So, in order to educate the Children and to give them bright future, AMG established these schools. Children are provided with nutritious breakfast and lunch, to inculcate the habit of going to school, because, only education can transform lives of these people. We guide and counsel these uncared children to go to school. We encourage the children and motivate the parents to admit them in AMG Schools, as they are illiterate and do not know the value of education. They think that education is not for their children, as they are intended to do labour work. After lot of counseling only, they send them to school. The following are the Day Care Centres-cum-English Medium Schools. Poor parents leave their children at home and go out to earn their livelihood.
